Patrick Reusse: Family made De La Hoya golden

Before he became one of the biggest names in boxing, Oscar De La Hoya was a teen out of East L.A. surrounded by his supportive relatives.

I could argue that De La Hoya is the most important figure in boxing in the past 20 years. While he lost too many bouts to top fighters to be considered the greatest of the generation, at least he didn't duck anyone. And Golden Boy Promotions consistently puts out great cards. I just wish the feud with Arum would be over so we could get Pacman-Mayweather before they're both over 40 (Mayweathehr in jail and Pacman-Bradley rematch aside).
