Be careful, Mitt. Someone like Palin (or her clone, Bachmann) can sink you. Just ask McCain.

"someone that obviously can do the job ". This would be a refreshing change after the Sara Palin era no matter what the gender of the candidate.

My money says the woman in consideration is New Mexico Gov. Susanna Martinez.

Be careful indeed. Picking another Palin would be suicide for Romney but picking a qualified woman as a running mate makes a lot more sense for Romney than picking a Hispanic for a couple of reasons. Romney probably realizes at this point he won't win over enough Hispanics to take the election. He would have to take a chance, pick a woman for a running mate and hope he can win over enough women to tip the election. Either way the numbers don't look too great for Romney...unless the unemployment situation continues to head south.

Condoleeza Rice ... more than qualified. I'd love to see her debate Joe Biden.

Well, since Palin is out of the running, and she already had her chance, it's not her. Who's the only strong female contender from the Presidential race...? Hmmmm, could it be Michele Bachmann...? Romney/Bachmann 2012! That's got my vote. Repeal ObamaCare, get the economy back on the go and get some more Americans employed. Who better to do it than topnotch Conservatives with a record in the private industry...? It'll be GREAT to have some quality Capitalists back in the White House. Agreed?

Please make it Palin or Bachmann. We don't need leadership like that in DC.

It would be a good political move. Susanna Martinez would indeed be a good choice: other options include Nikki Haley and Michele Bachmann. Haley is a tough, proven leader and Bachmann is one of probably only two nationally - known conservative women (along with Sarah Palin) who could fill a stadium on two days' notice just to hear her speak. But it is not just picking a woman. It is picking someone with strong conservative credentials. If Romney picks a clone as a running mate there is a very good chance that the Tea Party people will stay away from the polls in droves on election day and Romney, whatever else he may be, is not stupid. Martinez, Haley or Bachmann on the ticket would go a long way towards seeing that that doesn't happen.

Virginia Foxx from North Carolina.

It didn't matter that Palin was picked. The Republicans lost the election the minute McCain was picked as our candidate. Regardless of what woman may be picked, Obama and his minions will attack her just like they did Palin. Rubio is the only winning choice for VP. But, after the bickering of the last few days about Obamatax, I can easily see us shooting ourselves in the foot...again. At this point, the election is the Republicans to lose.
