I think it's really cool that local professional athletes are used to recruit other professional athletes from other sports. Hopefully together we can bring some championships to Minnesota.

ARRey sez: Nice story; thanks Joe. How did you manage to scoop Russo on this?

The Twins and Vikings will never win anything. Just resign yourselves to that reality now. The Wild just made themselves instantly relevant though. Minnesota will have a Stanley Cup with 3 years. At this point, they aren't ready yet...they need more depth, but they have MUCH less work to do now. I give it 3 years, tops. The Wild will bring at least 2 Cups to the Twin Cities.

The Wild indeed made themselves relevant and now at least have a shot, but I wouldn't call it a Cup in the bag -- were you one of the prognosticators that called the Kings to win it this last go around?

Texas, Florida and North Carolina have won The Stanley Cup and Minnesota hasn't. A few years ago I told a friend that I was going to eat right, exercise regularly and take good care of my body in hopes of living a long as to see Minnesota win one. I am more optimistic I will see it, but I am still going to jog this morning!

Move over Joe Mauer, there is a new star in town. Now, maybe Parise can teach Mauer some work ethic. 1/3 of the money of Mauer's contract, and probably 5 times the dedication to his sport.

How about if Mauer waves some of that $23 mil around to attract some fronline pitching to the Twins?

LiberalOne46Jul. 5, 12 9:47 AM

Both of these guys gave the Wild a "home town discount" even though one isn't even from here. There will be ups and downs over the next several years. During the tough streches we should remember their "discount". There was no Mauer "discount".

Question of the day.....What does the Super Bowl Trophy and the Stanley Cup have in common?????.....Answer.....Neither one has ever belonged to either of the supposed professional teams in Minnesota at the end of the season (and I am including the North Stars). However, just maybe now there is a reasonable chance now for the Cup.
