Ted and Bud Burger satisfied customers with a sporting-goods store that became a chain that became a model for modern business. Now they are working on satisfying themselves.

What a great story. I shopped Burger Bros stores and it was always a fun event. That was the place to shop. You always knew quality was number 1. Good for them doing what they like to do. Nice to see brothers that are so close.

A great story, but Joe's Sporting Goods left Saint Paul several years ago and are now located in Maplewood. If you look for them in Saint Paul, you will never find them.

I liked Burger Bros a lot! You talked to the guy in fishing about dry flies to find out he tied his own flies and new where the best streams were in the Big Horns in Wyoming. Same type of staff in archery. And I remember walking up those stairs in Edina. I wish them nothing but the best. Miss their stores though.

I worked for them in Bloomington. It was always a fun place to work and all the employees knew the products that they sold. I remember selling a shotgun to Walter Mondale (who'd have guessed?), and a custom rifle to Kent Hrbek's wife (it was a present for him). It wasn't uncommon to see local celebrities shopping there. The most interesting part was perhaps Bud and Ted themselves. They really are identical twins but have somewhat different demeanors. I never acquired the skill necessary to tell which one was which.

I see the definition for "cabin" has changed.

I bought my favorite shotgun from them in 1987. I really liked that store on Lyndale.

Does anyone know of any 24 hour bait stores along the Mississippi river, from Red Wing to Winona? I can't find live bait for night fishing, since the Conoco station in Lake City closed. Usually when I go, it's spur of the moment and everything is closed.
