Tony Sutton argued on this page that the GOP is positioned for victory. He's out of touch.

"But there is a set of extremes that people across the state are saying they aren't willing to live with -- the extreme positions from an increasingly out-of-touch Republican Party." - You spelled Democratic wrong.

The only voters who prefer the DFL are the ones not paying taxes or wanting someone else to pay more so they can pay less. Liberal greed is the definition DFL and their constituents. Electing the DFL to take your neighbors property and give it to you is immoral to say the least.

I don't really care what the pundits and talking heads from either side say. We will find out exactly what the will of the voters is in November.

I think nationwide the Republicans do (moderately) well this November. They'd do better but the establishment Republicans are as obviously intent on saving their own political hides as are the establishment Democrats, and merely running as Not Democrats will fool few. In Minnesota? Ken Martin is correct. The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight is a laughingstock. They're going to get pummeled in November and Owatonnabill for one will not be unhappy to see it happen.

Actually I think that the GOP will win nationally while the DFL will win locally. I hope once Governor Dayton gets his tax increases on the rich he will be satisfied and can move on to some real issues.

Wow. I guess the DFL are the true Americans then. An America with one party rule where abortion on demand remains convenient while on your way to the beach. Where the only people with guns will be the brown shirts arresting pastors for preaching Leviticus, Romans and 1st Corinthians. Where all dissent is labeled hate speech and gets you taken to the gulag. Where borders are removed and anyone(can't be called illegals anymore since there is no such person) can come in for jobs and free health care while Republicans are sent to break rock in the re-education camps. Where welfare, pensions and Social Security are means tested with the only qualification being you voted D in the last election. Where all the wealth is confiscated from the conservatives and given to the drug treatment centers to clean up those hooked on flesh eating marijuana. Where all the solar collectors and windmills are placed on decommissioned coal burning plants. Where Maherville and Bidenville are new posh resorts for the enlightened as they sip piƱa coladas 50 miles off the coasts after the oceans receded by a wave of the hand from the Great Oz. Yes, it certainly sounds like Shangri-La if only the DFL had total control. Oh please help us see the error of our ways.

This voter prefers neither. Don't be a puppet...vote third party.

gandalf48, even if the DFL gets huge majorities in both houses of the legislature, you can be certain of one thing.....rich people's taxes will not go up. Why is this? Because there's never a scenario in America today where rich people's taxes go up. The odds of an asteroid hitting the earth in 2013 are probably better than the odds of taxes going up on rich people. Particularly in the post-Citizens United world, politicians of both parties will live in bed-wetting fear of aggravating their campaign donors by either raising their taxes or saying mean things about them ("fat cats on Wall Street"). If the DFL gets back the 2-1 majorities it had in 2010, there will still be just enough DFLers voting no on any possible tax increase for rich people that may come to a vote. If the DFL gets a 3-1 majority, same story. 4-1 DFL majority...well, you get it. No matter how much people like you soil your shorts in fear of rich people's taxes going up, the game is rigged...and unless you're a rich person who happens to smoke cigarettes, you will never see your state or federal taxes go up one penny for at least a generation.

Ah yes, Tony Sutton, the man who ran the Minnesota Republican Party into so much debt. Yes, we should certainly take what this inept character has to say seriously.
