It is not even friendly for families, it only favors people with multiple devices that barely use any data.

This will cost our family an extra $40 per month. We have 3 smartphones and 2 have unlimited data. We pay $200 per month for this service after taxes. As you can see with the 10g share plan we would pay nearly $240 after taxes and be limited on usage. This is going the wrong way folks. Please shop around before you commit to verizon.

Lets hope some other companies step up and offer similar service for a much better price!

The only thing verizon has going for them is their stellar coverage. Aside from that, you're getting screwed. After my current contract is up, I'm done with verizon - between my wife and I, we spend 176 dollars a month for two smartphones with 2gb of data each (4gb each with a special promotion). On their "share everything" plan, we actually get less data but would pay the same amount. It's just spin-doctoring the same plans, to make them look more affordable. If you actually do the math....well, you get the picture.

Make no mistake. They are doing this to make money. Period. On the backs of everyone else. The amount of money people spend for a stupid phone, is ridiculous. Personally, I'll just go on craigslist and get someone's 6 month old phone that isn't cool to them anymore for $50, and just move my current plan to that. Or I'll head over to walmart and get the net10 deal for $50 a month unlimited everything that is getting great reviews. And that's a month to month plan. To each his own, but I'll stay on the cheap!

Just when I was looking for a good excuse to drop Verizon, they did it for me. I am paying $75 with Verizon for much less minutes than T-Mobile for $55. Might need to check out Virgin Mobile. Verizon is a rip-off for regular cellphone users.

People on family plans will see big price increases as they switch over to smart phones relative to what the old plan would cost. When my family talked to Verizon, their customer service rep said that customers haven't seemed angry. Well, the reality is that customers haven't paid attention because it doesn't affect them yet. Wait until these families try adding smart phones and see what it does to their bill. In my family, half are on smart phones and half aren't. To switch the others over is going to cost far more under the new plan and we can't switch early because they aren't eligible for a new phone discount yet. It's a huge trap. I'm hoping enough customers figure it out soon enough that they reverse course at least somewhat.

The article is has some wrong info when it comes to current customers and upgrades. A customer on a current price plan that upgrades would not have to change to a Share Everything plan to get the discounted price. If that customer was on an unlimited data plan they would need to switch to a tiered data plan ($30/2GB) to get the discounted price and if they wanted to stay on their unlimited plan they would have the option to pay full price for the phone. No current customer will be forced to change to Share Everything, but will of course have the option to switch.

Jacking up prices won't be received well, Verizon... Virgin is month-to-month and affordable -- I've been very happy with the value.

I bought the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 today and I was getting horrible speeds around Mpls from Downtown to Uptown. I was on the bus and at one red light I was getting 6mbps and the next light it dropped down to 1-2mbps. I'm going to return my phone to T-Mobile and switch to Verizon and buy their S3 next month. I hear their coverage and data speeds are better and more consistant.
