The Red Wings and Penguins, two quite-attractive suitors, figure to be roadblocks in the Wild's quest to land Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.

If this team so clearly needs leadership, then, perhaps, Mikko is the wrong person to be captain.

Just get Suter or Carle, that's all I ask.

they need leadership either from a proven credible coach with some age OR it needs to come from the team of players on the ice Lativa. Parise has had the luxury of being on NHL teams where he can go out and do his thing without having to worry about work ethic, etc...... I have never taken it seriously the thought of him playing here and will be surprised if it happens

if they are able to sign either Parise or Suter i will be amazed. why any high priced free agent would want to sign here is beyond me. the team has a track record of being mediocre to horrible at best.

Jamie L or Paul Gaustad would be a good additions. They need character and a few warriors like them. Nolan fit this role with benefits a few years ago.

I think "incredible anxiety" does not really describe our situation. I mean, Fletcher will do his best to land these guys but we have to look at our team, its growth, and our competitiveness with or without Parise or Suter. Incredible anxiety is a desperate lover who cannot live without his beloved. Our team will be improved if we land Parise or Suter, but it's not the end-all, be-all that "incredible anxiety" suggests. Great draft, let's hope for a great free agency too!! Go Wild!!!

Ctillhockey, that's just exhibit 1278 of why Russo is a hack. It pains me to read this guy. The fact that he refers to the hockey team as "it" (based solely on the singularity of the team's name, overlooking the fact that they're a team comprised of people) is my biggest irritation with having to read this guy.

It's going to take more than one high-scoring forward to make the Wild playoff contenders. Sure, scoring more is a necessity. But that forward will get sidelined (not that I want to see it, but big injuries have benched every major player the Wild has had; why would anyone new be exempt from that history?) Then what? Without a consistent, hardworking team behind The Star, we'll be hearing excuses from management about how "we coulda been a contenda except for that injury." And another year goes down the tubes.

What an impossible dream... Writing a check for more than anyone else is offering, using someone else's money to convince two guys to move to a hockey loving city in the US and be near their friends and family.... How will he ever manage to pull it off????

I thought the Wilds chances were fair with Parise... until the Pens entered the fray. The Pens are everything the Wings and the Wild arent. Young in the case of the Wings and successful in the case of the Wild. I never thought Suter would sign here. But Yandle is a very good dman! The Yotes will trade him after drafting and trading for dmen at the draft. He's one guy I hope the Wild try hard to acquire.
