Thanks for the great article La Velle! I have a question regarding one thing that I think could make Target Field even better... do you know why they don't clean the limestone behind home plate? It's always dirty. And it shows up the majority of time on tv camera shots. Just wondering if anyone ever notices/discusses this!(?) Thanks for your great coverage! :)

I love Target field, but I have an issue. It's next to the garbage burner. And it was never going to be on the river at the Guthrie site because of MLB rules which stipulate that a stadium must be configured so that a line running from home plate through the pitching rubber to second base must face in a north/northeast direction. Which means if it was on the Guthrie site the people in the cheap seats would have had the amazing view of downtown. As it sits now, the people in the Champions club(had a onetime amazing experience there, by the way) have the best downtown view.

I went to PNC park a couple seasons ago just as something to do while in Pitt on business. Horrible game between Pitt and Cincy with both teams filling the roster with AAA players. Great statues of Honus Wagner by the main entrance, and Clemente, Mazeroski, and Stargell in other places. Actually stood in line for at an outdoor vendor next to Chuck Tanner. I rate it higher than Target, because of the view of the river and downtown (as La Velle said), but their beer selection was beyond anything I've seen at a ballpark, and it was very affordable.

I've been to only 17 of 30, but here are my Top-5: 5. Citizen's Bank Park (Philadelphia) 4. Comerica Park (Detroit) 3. Target Field 2. PNC Park (Pittsburgh) 1. Kauffman Stadium (Kansas City).

Not sure about the pressbox at PNC but from my perspective as a fan it's a better park than Target. Better views and concourses so wide you could put an interstate through them. Also you can watch the field from anywhere in the lower levels while waiting for concessions.

Sfan26, your right, something needs to be done about the limestone behind home plate. It looks like it was forgotten and it's the most viewed part of the stadium on TV. I miss the pine trees also.

Sorry if I sound old. Been to Target Field, been to the Dome and been to the old Met Stadium. Nothing like seeing those lights while driving north on cedar avenue and hearing the sounds of the game at the old Met. And nothing has replaced or can compare to the old bleachers and the knothole gang. Nothing. The Dome? It was a football stadium built for the Vikings. Target Field is fantastic but I'm old fashioned. Heck I even love Wrigley and Fenway.

why is everyone "wetting themselves" over concourses? take your seat and watch the game. dur? i don't need to get up every other inning just to walk around...maybe once to go the bathroom but my gosh people...stay in your seats...too much moving around and standing up anymore and that's the way it is at the XCell too. if you want to congregate do it out in the pavillion before the game...limestone behind homeplate? who cares...watch the game...and weather there are trees in center is irrelevant...too many geeks following baseball anymore...watch the game.

When hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars are spent on a stadium there is a public expectation to maintain it, lindy. I agree that Wrigley and the Wrigleyville area is a great time. A lot of people have issues with Wrigley Field in that it needs some infrastructure improvements that should have happened a while ago that are justified - but to take in a weekend series there is an experience that is tough to match.

The shaking hands? That puts it over the top? The shaking hands? I'll be amused for the rest of the day on that one...LEN3 overlooks the Target Field elephant in the room...3/4 of the stadium is surrounded by junk. Location matters. -Jason
