ATVs will also have access to city streets. Critics think it's a shot the City Council muffed.

Golf carts and ATV's on city streets in Ramsey? Way to further the stereotype about the NW suburbs/exurbs.

Well, we know what council members think they are smarter than you, and which ones trust you to be responsible. Why is it that the nanny state advocates always quote the absurd. Exactly how many three DUI golf cart owners are out there? And won't they just drive cars anyway? These are the same geniuses that though the permit to carry would result in chaos. Way to go Mayor, thanks for the vote of confidence in the people of Ramsey!

@bouttimeboys...How "absurd" is it to think that in a city of 24,000 a few just might have their driver's license revoked for whatever reason after they get their ATV permits? Reckless driving, DWIs, multiple offenses...in any city, there will be at least a few. To answer your question, one is too many. Trying to keep those people off of the road is not a nanny state tactic, it's the role of city government...the safety and welfare of its citizens. You clowns who always tout LIBERTY fail to realize that governments make laws every day that tread on the liberty of citizens. How high your grass can be, how fast you can drive, how old you must be to enter into a legal contract. Where would you draw the line? I'm convinced that liberty = anarchy to people like you and you're all an embarrassment to conservatives everywhere. As much as we all love liberty, we need laws for society to function. By the way, when did the Ramsey City Council have a vote on the permit to carry law? As far as I know the two geniuses who voted against this nonsense had no say in that.

I find the arguments for and against ridiculous. Could both sides please grow up and find something important to vote on, or just be quiet? Not all activity is worthwhile. Sometimes doing nothing is of more value. Now, as for voting for Sarah Strommen: her name is one of those forever engraved on the plaque in Ramsey City Hall, the monument to the unbelievable hubris of those in office who started the fiscal spending disaster that still haunts the City of Ramsey today. Anyone whose name is on that plaque should be banned from ever holding elected office ever again.

Now, in the City of Ramsey, they can build smaller garages to store their golf carts to drive to the parking garage and ride the train. Now, less expensive, alternate streets can be built like bike paths because they only have to support golf carts. That's fiscal responsibility in action AND so much more environmentally friendly. I just can't understand why this wasn't approved 7-0. I am especially surprised that environmental extremist and council member Sarah Strommen opposed this: after all, she voted to support eminent domain, expanded wetland buffering which took away much more of citizens' property, and sponsored a city ordinance to prevent you from cutting down a tree on your own property if you so chose....you had to get permission from the city.

I will vote for Sarah Strommen over Bob Ramsey every day. Bob Ramsey has done more harm to the City of Ramsey then any mayor in the history of the broke city. Throw in his best buddy Matt Look who wants to appoint Ramsey to a county job (Vet post) and you have quite a pair. Both seem to think the city should fire or layoff all city employees and hire high priced consultant buddies to suck tax money out of the city.

I have heard for employees who have left service because the City Council is creating a very problematic work environment. Public lectures of staff; voting against things that would help this city; just generally a hostile and negative work environment. Government is not our enemy. They are a necessary part of an orderly society. Sarah Strommen has my vote. Mark Kuzma too!
