Doubt we'll see him in a Wild sweater this year but that's okay. We've all seen what rushing a prospect to the NHL too fast can do to a player (Sheppard). Remember, the kid is only 17 year old. 17!!! He's got a ton of time to improve whatever aspect of his game he needs to. Looks like our D on the right side is set for the next 5+ years. Gilbert, Spurgeon, and Dumba. Sorry, not very high on Prosser though.

@sniggle You do realize that offense is created by being able to get the puck out of your own zone first right? If you're fine with a future defense composed of players like Falk and Prosser then by all means continue to demand forwards.

Solid pick. Was hoping Reinhart would somehow fall into the Wild's lap, but Dumba does have a very good upside. Aside from being relatively undersized for a D-man (and since he's only 17 y.o., I'm sure he'll grow some more), the one thing that seems a bit of a concern and was mentioned in some of the scouting reports is his penchant for getting himself out of position to make the big hit.

Take a good look at the smile on Dumba's face ... I wish him every success in NHL! I hope he'll still be smiling once the losing starts?

We could use more D and I like this pick. Dumba seems like the complete package but only time will tell with him and Brodin (liked that pick too) Gotta disagree somewhat about with the negative comment on Prosser though. One of his strengths is getting the puck out of the zone effectively- something the Wild really lacks. Not saying he looks like a number one pairing guy but he is OK defensively and has a knack for making a good pass and getting the puck to an open teammate.

sniggle....you do realize no one we drafted was going to be able to help the Wild next year right? Yakupov is about the only prospect who will probably play next season, maybe Murray for Columbus too, but that's it. This is for the future. The Wild are stacked with forward prospects...if you haven't heard of Mikael Granlund or Charlie Coyle you will, along with Zach Phillips,Brett Bulmer, Johan Larrson, Jason Zucker. We lacked a potential stud defenseman. Anaheim is going to have some real explaining to do if Dumba turns out to be a star. That Swede they took was kind of a reach and they passed on Dumba. I thought there was no way that Dumba would fall to the Wild, but I am glad he did. I wanted Morgan Rielly the most, but he wasn't there and wasn't worth trading up for. firefly70...that is a legit concern....although they said the same thing about Drew Doughty in juniors as well, and even though TSN put PK Subban as a comparable last night, the most common comparison I've heard is Drew Doughty with Dumba.
