Said it before; love Joe! MN guy, great ball player, major talent if he can stay healthy. But, that contract is killing the Twins. He just does not produce enough. If they can get much at all in return to get rid of the contract I think they have to do so.

Actually, nodon7, the Twins don't need anything for Mauer. Just get rid of his contract so they can go after a few other free agents. Compare Mauer's recovery with Lebron's shaking off his leg injury to play in the last night's game. Nothing against Joe, it's just that some peole don't recover fast and are more susceptible to pain. Obviously, Joe is one of them. Couple that with a knee that will never, ever come close to holding up against the physical strain of catching and you have a mysterious strategy from Twins management that keeps him behind the plate where he's frequently injured and unable to hit because of it. STUPID!

How much is a $23 million dollar player worth when he is not playing... nothing. Maybe we need to lose enough games where he will be tired of being on a losing team to get rid of him so we can get back to winning. If he ever plays 80+ games. Milwaukee player were hobbling around and beat us.

I understand but don't agree with the 'dump Joe' sentiment as a knee jerk reaction. But honestly, if one looks at the history of Minnesota sports and particularly Twins ... does anyone realistically think Mauer's departure would lead Twin management to take those resources on a dollar for dollar basis and replace him? In recent history with Twins- what happend with Santana- replaced with nobody? What happened with Moss - Vikes got Napolean 'Bonaparte' -(nobody)? Kevin Garnett (good riddence but)- nobody ? Marion Gaborik- nobody ... So be careful what you wish for when demanding MN sport stars be replaced or traded ... because you'll get nothing and like it! You'll just end up with NOBODY!

It's time to trade Mauer. He's more fragile than a thin pane of glass. The Twins aren't going anywhere this season anyway so get him and his contract out of town.

Anytime "Mauer" and "hurt" are in the same sentence, you can soon add "longer than expected".

Pay me the money he is making to sit on the bench. How many players actually are hurt but play through it. A bruised muscle come on....

People...Please! Enough with the trade Joe Mauer requests. He has a no trade clause, makes $23M a year, hardly ever plays because of a nick here or there, and when he does play he grounds into more DP than anybody else in all of baseball. Who in their right mind would want to "trade" for that? He is offically the most overrated player in the game today. Signing Joe Mauer has destoyed the future of Twins baseball at this point. Just retire and go make another milk commerical with your mom. What a joke!

What did he do to injure his leg, jump off the pile of money he has stashed in his home?

you fans/and I know I'll get a boatload of thumbs downs, on here sure are tough on Joe. I really can't understand it. You'd probably "chew out" your brother/sister/mom/dad for not getting a better promotion at work. He's one of you guys/a Minnesotan to boot. Can't you be a little more civil? Where you this hard on Greedy Gaborik, Money Money Moss, or Can't Get Enough Cash Garnett? Why all this on just Joe? Ease up for pete's sakes. He's not going anywhere so "suck it up"/as you tell him to do, and live with it.
