Veilleux? Are you kidding? If he is on the opening day roster we are in trouble and I won't watch.

PMB needs to go. If we need a soft in the corners two goal scorer with some passing skills who will be out 98 percent of the season, let's just sign Joe Mauer

ARRey sez: Staal perhaps may be a better overall option than Parise in the long run.

If Staal won't sign an extension, forget about it. Or, if you can work a trade that has contingencies, maybe you go for it. Trade a #1 if he resigns. If not, a #3. Pitt probably wouldn't take that deal, but that would be the only way I give that deal a shot. I agree with laknee as I think Staal could be great if he gets out from the shadow of the 'Twin Towers'. Better than Parise only because he is younger.

Staal is over rated. Rick Nash would be awesome!

Staal will most likely somehow wind up in Carolina. You don't trade for a guy who isn't willing to re-up with just don't do that. Trading prospects and picks for Jordan Staal without a guarantee that he would sign on long term would be a far worse trade than the Leddy-Barker deal. The potential trade I would look for is possibly bringing Bobby Ryan here if anything. Ryan is an outstanding goal scorer and would add a lot to the Wild. That said, I still say the Wild's best move is to blow Zach Parise's doors off with an offer of at least 7 years and $65 million on July 1.

Wow, who here thinks Veilleux is a legit NHL'er and disliked my comment? The guy played one season post Wild before going to Europe, and got a whopping one game with the Devils before coming back here. He wouldn't play on any other NHL squad and if he's playing here that means our depth still sucks.

Keep an eye on what? Players that will not sign with the mild? Should add Parise and Suter to the list then! D. Brunner, the top Swiss player to sign with the Winged Wheel, yet another player that slips thourgh the milds fingers :)!

sgjsdadJun. 22, 1211:13 AM

No, geckojay, you are correct about Veilleux. He never had much talent. His assets were his work ethic and his grittyness and now he's still talent-deficient and he's also old and not as gritty as he was in the past. It's time for Steph to strongly consider getting into coaching, quite frankly. Same with Jed Ortmeyer and Warren Peters.

Why does Russo continue to use -assets- for describing players and draft picks. Geez, can't we just say players and/or draft picks instead of assets all the time. Kind of lame.
