Sounds like fun, but where is the supposed "family-friendly" atmosphere of this celebration. Would be great to be able to bring my children, but is there anywhere in this celebration that they won't be exposed to oversexualized themes? This seems like an adults-only party to me.

@colenickmain - Tom Horgen writes the "Nightlife" column (about the bar/club/party scene). If you're looking for family-friendly events (gay or straight), the "Nightlife" column is probably the wrong place! The festival in Loring Park (Saturday & Sunday) and the parade down Hennepin Avenue (Sunday mid-morning) are both family-friendly.

This parade is a special day for a very small group of Minnesotans. I don't get the anology with the state fair???? How is this Minnesota's "other great get together". The writer is trying way way too hard to make this relevent to the rest of Minnesotans. I have gay friends but this parade offers nothing of interest to me.
