Good for them. A bold move, which is required.

About time for some real action before out lakes will die chocked by invasive species. It is sad that self control and personal responsibilities of boat owners who have big stake healthy lakes failed. Lakes have many stockholders flora , fauna , walkers , fishermen lakes are not just for boats . Lakes were here before boats !!

I agree there needs to be a better way to prevent invasive species into Minnesota lakes but if they are going to do this they need to have the access points for inspections maned 24hrs a day otherwise they are impeding on the rights of the people to use the lakes for recreation.

Feel free to enjoy the lakes, just not during the weekday apparently.

great reaction time... Case you haven't noticed the barn doors have been left open for the last 10 years... I'm sure the flying carp and the zebbra mussels will learn to share a piece of the pie... The rest of us will just have to learn to enjoy our carp with sauteed mussel as a side dish..

It's a bold move but too late. All the lakes in MPLS are already infested with invasive species.

Not good, public citizens. No government body should regulate access to a public waterway. This is class warfare. They might as well declare the lake a private golf course and make people pay to use it.

Blind leading the blind. Wonder what the DNR is going to do when the amount of fishing license sold starts dropping rapidly. So much for the extra income from increased fees, but then again it was probably part of the plan all along.

Great, so Sunday afternoon canoeing on the Lakes is now essentially prohibited?
