Chuck Fletcher is keeping his options open but knows the price will be high to acquire big-name players who aren't free agents.

The problem for Fletcher is that Leopold wasn't known for his patience while owner of the Preds and realistically how many GMs in hockey stick around after missing the playoffs 5 years in a row? This may be Fletchers last year to do something. So if he doesnt get anyone; i.e. Parise or a big trade then I would expect him to do something at the deadline in season if the Wild are hovering around the 8 spot again... otherwise I just dont see Leopold sitting back and going with it for another two years. Even if Granlund scores 20 goals as a rookie it wont be enough this year.

Good post Hockeyguy, but I'd ask how much we really know about Leo's commitment to winning. Last season the Wild made some sizeable moves BUT they still went into the season almost $9 mil under the cap and put way too much stock in PMB and Lats being healthy. Either Leo tied Fletchers hands with the checkbook or Fletch thought he was good to go last season, either way a mistake as we saw.
