Jared Allen prepares for season in his own way

He was the only Viking to miss OTAs, preferring to work with his team of trainers in Arizona.

Allen has done very little to improve the vikings defense since he came here. For example, he had all those useless sacks last season and nothing to show for it but a second consecutive last place NFC North finish for the vikings.Last time I checked Allen has never been to a Super Bowl with any team he has ever played for and he will not be going to one any time soon.

It's funny how much pressure there is on the players to show up at these 'voluntary' sessions. Even the guy who broke Doleman's sack record has to explain why he missed something he didn't have to go to. Oh, and since the STrib has a heavy hand on deleting comments these days, maybe they should start checking IP addresses and delete all the negative garbage coming out of Wisconsin. Biasedhomer = biased against MN Packers homer.

If a guy has 22 sacks in a season he can do whatever he wants. He's the boss. He should have been defensive player of the year except the powers that be don't like to give those type of awards to players on teams with losing records. biasedhomer...I just have nothing to say to that type of logic. If one can call it logical.

Let's see some more rope calfing when your team is getting blown out.

Another class athlete wasting away on a pathetic team. He will be used up and cut before this team goes anywhere. His last chance was three years ago when 4 came to town.

Why even question Allen? This guy has been the steadiest DE in pro-football for the last 10 seasons. The OTA that his missed was voluntary. When he speaks, you can tell he is a team player. He has a certain way of working out, thats it. You can't deny the season ending stats. He understands what he needs to do, to get ready for the season, and is ready, and plays ALL-PRO football. In response to the cheese head blog - You shouldn't be worried about Allen, or the Vikings period. If I were you I would worry about that joke of a Defense that you have up there in Lam. field. Why don't you "Double click check" your mouse, and go to a Packer blog. The Pack couldn't win a game unless they scored 45 points. "ONE AND DONE"!!! go Vikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we want "entertainment", you fill your squad with the Jared Allens of the world. Applaud as he calf ropes and makes another sack. However, if you want to build a winning team, get talent in here that prioritizes how bad they want to win a Super Bowl. You usually have to look deep into a Jared Allen interview to find the "want to win a Super Bowl" reference. I think if Allen played in the 1960's with say a Dick Butkus that Butkus would poke him hard in the chest get right in his face and tell him, "act like you've there before".

Why so much negativity about the Vikes? All it takes is a couple of pieces to come together and a little bit of opportunistic play to become a playoff team. Look at the Vikes When Favre came to town. We weren't looking to be any better that year than the year previous, but suddenly things meshed and came together. We have added a few small pieces this year, and I am optomistic that we will see improvement. In a win-now league, that is all you can ask for. Come on people, stop the negativity and be positive for once!

It's WAY too early to have to start listening to Jared Allen quotes!!

Jared, please go calf rope Percy and kick some sense into him. Thank you for your dedication to the team!!
