I admit that if I were a pro athlete I would almost certainly want an agent. But I think that many (maybe even most) of the agents have contributed in a major way to the out-of-whack pro-sports machine we have in this country. Relatively few of them seem to do much to help the athlete mature and have a sound life after sports.
