Congratulations! Can we now stop hearing about Tiger Woods 24/7?

Yes, congratulations to Webb Simpson for his first win, but can the Tiger haters please be quiet. Where were the haters when Tiger tiesd Jack's record? Say what you want, but he still is the best golfer today & no one now or on the horizion is poised to catch or surpass him. Did he have a terribile Sat. & Sun.? you bet he did. Did he play like the Tiger of old? No ofcourse not, but when all those that are suppose to be the next big thing, where were they? McElroy didn't make the cut, neither did Luke Donald, or many of the rest. Did Phil win,or Fowler, no. Did Tiger quit due to "mental fatigue" or smash his club against an in ground mike & break it when things weren't going well, no he didn't. Will he comeback & be number one for months in a row again, I don't know. I only know he is still a figure that can still be a force & maybe now he can shake off the deamons & come close to the Tiger of old & if he can't he still is all around the "best" & should not be vilified.

Nobody is vilifying Tiger Woods, but the constant media scrutiny grows really tiresome. A little media respect is due his opponents. I appreciate his body of work, but if your measuring stick is tournament wins, he is not the best right now. Sorry, but if being a realist is "Tiger hating", I plead guilty. I hope he can return to his days of dominance, but until he does I will reserve judgement.

Sorry rickmn, but golf needs a "hero" or a "villan" in order to interest one single fan other than the diehards that play the game. The last few years with no dominant players and new nobodies winning every week has killed the TV viewership and golf product sales, so your thought of the world of golf collapsing and disappering without him was almost realized. That is why the need for a dominant larger than life person like Tiger or anyone who can win multiple majors in a year. Golf isn't the type of game and the players aren't the personalities that most people care about - hence the need to overblow everything Tiger does, so people will actually watch. That is why when Rory won a major the media went crazy and tagged him as the next Tiger and even started digging into his personal life hoping for a new "hero" - how has that worked out? Be careful what you wish for, or the only golf you will see is on the pay per view Golf Channel or the majors.
