A few observations/opinions on 2012 RTG (relative to prior years) - The crowd seemed MUCH older than usual and was very subdued (bored?) most of the time and the bands felt it/knew it. Howler needs a little more seasoning, perhaps they’re better in a small venue. ?? Doomtree was, for me, the big surprise (I had low expectations) They gained a few new fans last night among the non-hip-hop fans like myself. Trampled by Turtles delivered! The Hold Steady...having seen them a few times before I can say that they seemed tired/off. Craig Finn's amazing voice is gone and many of the songs don't click without keys. What was with the totally awkward end of the show? The drawn out announcement that didn’t materialize…??? Lay off the Jack. Suggestion: next year RTG needs to cut back on the total # of tickets sold because it was a total cluster in there, worse than in prior years.
