So refreshing to read a fair and realistic article about these dogs. Many pit bulls are the victims of cruel and irresponsible owners, who often want them for the wrong reasons. When loved, socialized and exercised, they can be the best dog you ever had. I sure never expected to have one, but mine found me. She's a fantastic family member who has taught me to judge a DOG as an individual, not a breed stereotype. Thank heaven for great local organizations like A Rotta Love Plus and great fosters and adopters like the people in this article. I hope this will encourage more people to check them out through fostering.

A Rotta Love sounds like it is doing great things for pit bulls as well as their people! I appreciate their commitment to move forward with education as well as spay/neuter programs. It is refreshing to see this type of coverage of the breed. Thank you for your open-mindedness Star Trib!

Thank you for this article. We have well-socialized pit bull that has changed many minds about the breed. We consider her an ambassador for pit bulls. It's amazing how gentle and patient she's been with our baby boy. You will not find a more loving dog.

Thank you so much for this excellent, balanced, and positive reporting. Pit bull groups face a steep uphill battle, especially when it comes to media coverage, so when we get to be a part of a story like yours, it gives us some important encouragement to keep doing the work that we do. Thank you again for publishing this quality article. I hope that you know how much it means to the pit bull community.

Finally a positive article about a "breed" so many of us love in the metro! The main thing to stress is considering your lifestyle when adopting. Find a good match! If you want a wonderful family companion, you can't go wrong with an underdog. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors and energy levels. Check out the Pittie Parade next Saturday from 12pm-3pm at Locke Park in Fridley. Bring your dog if you have one, even if you don’t stop by! This is a great opportunity for those that want to learn more about these animals. The best way to learn is by experience!

Great article! Thanks for writing about ARLP and pit bull terriers. These dogs get such a bad rap, it's really a shame. They can be the best companions and family pets in the world, quite honestly. They were called the "nanny dogs," for good reason.

This is a very good article about this breed, and thank you for publishing it. As a neighbor of a pit bull owner, I could very easily point the finger at the pit bull across the street and say that dog is a menace. It has attacked my dogs twice in the last 6 months, but I don't really blame the dog, I blame the owners. Both times they were outside, and watched each incident, and couldn't do anything about it. I am glad this article points out that these dogs aren't for everyone. We researched our dog breed before we made the decision to bring our dog home, and now 3 years later, he is the best dog ever, and we also help out the local Aussie rescue and foster Aussies when we can. Any dog can be an amazing dog, but not every dog owner should be a dog owner.

So how many documented pit bull attacks are there? Anyone killed by a poodle lately? Give us those stats before you put a negative quote about another breed.
