You are absolutely correct Jim. Liriano is a psychological case study for graduate students. He cannot control himself. Too bad for everybody.

Trouble is . . . we don't have anyone any better to put on the mound. Revere looks like a superstar now after all the AA players we tried in the outfield. Glad to have him back. But still, "Bad team man; we got a baaaad team." Anymore diamonds out there?

The Twins should definitely be trying to trade Liriano before the deadline. Why not? He's an unrestricyed free-agent at the end of the year. Do you think the Twins should resign him? With the way he's performed? The whaole situation with Liriano is very disappointing. Could it be any more obvious we need to upgrade our starting pitching? Outside of Diamond what have we got? Well, maybe we have something with Walters and Hendricks. But the rest of them, well, they just shouldn't be back next year-period.

Is there any way the Twins could have "Everyday" Eddie Guardado try and talk to him about being mentally tough? Eddie seems like a very good example of a pitcher/athlete making the most of his limited talent by having a bulldog mentality. If memory serves correct, his fastball rarely got much above 90 mph, yet he still saved over 40 games two years in a row. But then again, can you really even coach mental toughness? It seems to be one of those things you either have, or you don't. And it seems Liriano does NOT have it.

If they resign Blackburn and Liriano...shame on them. Neither one of those guys should be resigned let em walk. Or trade both at the break. Something is better than what you got.

You lose with Liriano, so what is the difference if we trade him to a contender, and include Butera in the deal and then bring up some more "diamonds in the rough?" We are in LAST place and have nothing to lose. You are screwed if you miss the fastball in the first three pitches, but batters have figured this guy out for quite some time now. And sorry if you like Blackburn, but the movement on his fastball, stopped.

Pitching for Gardenhire and Anderson would make pretty much make anyone need a therapist. Wait till those two get into Diamonds head too. At the end of the year he will end up with a 4.50 ERA and pitching 5 and a third innings if he is lucky.

Pretty clear the Twins will need to move this guy to another team and be content with whatever late round draft pick or obsure "player to be named later" they get in return. Liriano simply doesn't have it between the ears...and I don't know if he ever will.

So 2 of the 5 starting pitchers prefer the AAA catcher to the 23 million dollar man. Is this a problem???

Physically, Liriano is a very talented athlete but mentally he is not, unfortunately and may never regarding his "form of old." Maybe a move to a new team would do him good but maybe not as his market value may not be all that great...although even problematic left handed pitchers are hard to find so... Lots of professional athletes flirt with greatness and even come through on occasion but not consistently. Liriano may well be just another in a long line of such professional athletes who can just never make it on a consistent basis no matter how many chances they are given. The Twins are no doubt hoping to trade him but the market for him may well be small or non-existent given his inconsistency.
