Graduation without Pinterest, please

Pinterest's high bar for party decor is a bit maddening for this editorial writer.

I get it. Pinterest has crafty ideas far beyond any one person's imagination. But on the topic of graduation parties, people have been going over-the-top long before Pinterest came to be. Live bands, smoothie bars, and ultra fancy catering have made these parties look to be as grand as some weddings. It felt like a competition for who could throw the biggest bash.

It starts back in the youngsters birthdays. Need a theme, need party gift bags to go home with the kids, need a venue. Done for parents more than the kids. Best party ever was having relay races and scavenger hunts in the yard.
