Even within the marked "live" zones there are large areas without coverage. North Minneapolis along Penn and near Glenwood, for example.
This map shows great swathes of NE Mpls with a live network but when I go to the US Internet website they are showing it not available yet.
Shouldn't we expect accurate online reporting of Internet issues?
I recently called US Wireless to inquire about getting access to my house. I was disconnected over 3 times then connected to a secretary who told me that someone would have to call me back. An hour later I recieved a call but decided that if they can't get there own act togather I wasn't about to trust them with my Internet. Thanks but no thanks.

According to this article, 20% of the people who pre-registered for internet service are in "Dead Zones" that will not be finished until this summer. With all due respect, it seems a little pre-mature (and disingenuous) for the company to announce that the network will be "complete" on March 11 when, in reality, it is only 80% finished. The citizens of Minneapolis deserve better.
I signed up for 3Mb service about 2 months ago, and paid in advance about $400 (including the cost of the Ruckus router) The signal is so poor in my house that I have not been able to use it. I live in a stucco house in the middle of the block and the nearest nodes are at the end of the block. Like anywhere in Mpls, there are plenty of trees in the way and I imagine things will get worse once they have leaves on them. USI claims it will improve when the neighborhood south of me gets it's equipment installed. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but I remain skeptical. Don't cancel your Comcast just yet.
I live in Longfellow, corner stucco house, upstairs computer which might help with the stucco, with big trees and router right on light pole at my corner. Excellent service, 1M. Paid up front, which then avg $15 a month, plus $5 rental (which I may change to buy...)
Looks like they need more of a 'web' to get everyone. Let's hope. Tech service and administrative service was excellent each time I contacted them.
I live by Lake Harriet and have had the service for about a month. At times the signal is very slow even though the system says the connection is either very good or excellent. This especially seems to be a problem on Sunday morning and afternoon. This is unacceptable. Something needs to be done about this.
I live 5 houses down from the pole in a stucco house. The signal is great in the upstairs front room but gets weaker in the rest. I had to get the wireless router and the Ruccus modem but since then it works perfectly.
I tired the service for about two months. I was never able to get a consistent signal. I am on the middle of the block just south of Powderhorn Park. When working well, my 3mbps service gave me about 1.8mbps. I have gone back to Comcast and now consistently get 10-12mbps. The price is great for the Mpls WIFI, but I cannot justify it for the drastic difference in reliabily and speed quality
