just remember these numbers are guesses not actual weights, that would be impossible to do, just like guessing how many fish are actually in the lake from a netting sample

Tap009 beat me to the punch. The Indians are not catching their fish by hook-and-line...dip nets in, pull dollars out. Recently I read that they are going to court to increase their walleye count...really???

Hey Doug, somebody needs to start asking more questions to people that are actually fishing up their. I have been up their the past 3 weekends, tons of fish caught!!! 46 fish caught last weekend, 4 keepers!!! that is the reality up there. So if the DNR thinks we are over harvesting, the need to get the facts right. Fun fishing but very frustrating. This lake is not getting overharvested.

Most all the people I know who fish Mille Lacs, along with the guides/resorts, are reporting excellent fishing... The problem- the 'catch to harvest' ratio is going way up, 5 to 7 big fish, for every keeper... Last year the ratio was 2-3 big fish, for every keeper... Buddy went up yesterday, caught 12 fish, not one keeper, my report is very similar- we are not in any hurry to spend the couple hundred it takes, to do this again.. Only thing fadin fast is the health of this resource, all to allow a destructive gill net agreement.

I'm willing to bet all the money I have and all the money I make in the future that the Native Americans will voluntarily quit netting fish before the people complaining about them will voluntarily quit spreading invasive species with their boats. Any takers?

Cudos to the DNR. Understaffed and always under criticism from both sides, they have been able to keep the most heavily fished lakes in Minnesota well stocked with their favorite species. If nobody else will pat them on the back I will

I think the native Americans learned their lesson on Red Lake. Over fished by everybody concerned they lost a valuable resource for almost a decade.
