College football's movers and shakers disagree on format, but a better system for naming a champion is on the way.

What difference does it really make who it is?

Have to agree with stanbob -- what's the big deal about how it is done? Current system may be flawed but so what? College football's #1 priority is making money and the big schools are doing that in spades. Scoggins idea of an 8-team playoff is especially ridiculous. Even though we know college football does not care about education, surely they are not going to adopt a system that takes 3 weeks to determine the winner. Although, that would be lots of $$$.

I agree with the two above. I mean, what difference does it make anyway and who cares. No matter what kind of system is developed to determine a "true national champion" it will be flawed in some manner or another. Some team will win that "shouldn't" and some "obvious national champion" will get upset in the first round and...that is, no different than what we have today so where is the need to change anything?

Exactly! Once the door is opened they'll immediately start expanding it & ruin the last remaining regular season that has any meaning. 4 teams max & conference champions only.

Who won last year? Who cares?

I don't want any more playoffs of any sort. The media has a vested interest in more games, more hype, longer seasons, etc. They do not give a tinkers damn about academics, integrity, tradition or anything other than how much they get paid to write trash about more junk. If anything, they prefer scandals and all the crud that is increasing every year. It sells papers.

Oh contrare, 4 is twice as bad as the BCS2. Also no compromise keep pushing till you win or lose. 8 is great, 16 is perfect for 2014 But while the Schools and NCAA are getting ready for 2014 (more later because major changes must happen for the Perfect Plan for the long term). An Interim Playoff in 2012 & 2013 would be wild beyond those dreams of yours. We already have a round 1 made up of the misguided Super Conference Championship games, so here goes... the 4 AQ Champs are in, then Big 12 vs Big East in an elimination game the 1st Saturday of December is #5 and #6 is the non-AQ Champ with the most wins starting in Priority with MAC, CUSA, MW, SB then WAC. And least and last 4 at-large teams with the most wins (11 you know) in 2 elimination games on Elimination Saturday make up #7 & #8. Then the 3rd Saturday of December 4 Bowl Games and next Saturday 2 Bowl Games with the winners and then the National Championship game. Then go check out the 2014 Perfect Playoff Plan http://www.ncaa2012.com
