Not lost on the 7-0 Lynx was their second game in a row of frittering away a lead of 20 or more points.

I turned the game on with 4 minutes left in the 4th. I couldn't believe they let the lead slip. The vets are usually clutch with the free throws, but were not tonight. That is what kept the Stars in the game. If Hammond had hit the rim, and the Stars got a put-back basket, we might have had a different outcome. Don't let 'em back in next time! *Whew* for now.

Has there been any 7-0 team that has left a lot of their opponents feeling this good about themselves? Their record might be better this year but they were more fun to watch last year. They don't look like they're enjoying themselves.

Whalen is the best player on the team. She is what made them a champion. She is the Steve Nash of womens sports. She doesn't get rattled. She is the best point guard in womens basketball. Whalen is awsome she is a non stop player. And she will be the reason the Lynx will repeat as champs. She was a winner wherever she played.

Oh I think they are still enjoying themselves - they're under a LOT more pressure to win that's for sure. Bottom line is they find a way to win. I just hope last night's game and a couple other previous games are exceptions and not the norm.

I was at the game. Why did Reeve have the bench players in the the game for most of the 3rd quarter? That is when the huge lead was blown. When you can see the lead whittling away why wouldn't you put in the starters?

"Just win baby." I for one am thrilled to read about a local sports team that doesn't inspire a regular headline that includes "lose, loses, or lost". They're not resting on their laurels as can happen after winning a championship, and they'll get this kink worked out, because they've got a lot more pride than their male counterparts in other sports.

@bmmvk3---I fully agree and was thinking the same thing last night.

bmmvk3 has it right. After sitting out so long because of the big lead, it is hard to get their mojo back when they come back in. Coach Reeves was main reason they lost the lead, besides the subs, of course!

yep also agree w/bmmvk3...I noticed the same thing.

Man if we were beating teams by 30+ every night some people would be crabby the starters were playing too much, the reserves weren’t playing enough playing time & things were too boring lol. Lets see, many (including the local columnist) have failed to notice our team is coming off of playing 3 games in 5 days in 3 different cities. IMO some fatigue played a part, mostly mental at that. But too easy to blame the reserves for giving up the lead & forgetting to give them some credit for helping spike the lead in the 1st half. In the 2nd half it wasn’t just the reserves who missed defensive assignments, didn’t box out and get rebounds. Nor was it the reserves who missed key free-throws at the end of the game. Saying players sat too long is a cop out & the players wouldn’t/didn’t use that excuse. As a whole our Lyns just didn’t have the same focus in the 2nd half and SA picked up their play and our Lynx didn’t match it. Thank goodness this team is smart enough to know they win as a “team” and will (one day) lose as a “team”. Anyway, there’s no reason not to use the bench when you're up 20+. Coach uses her bench because she can and should especially when the team has had so many games in a short period of time. She mixed up the lineup some but so are other teams at this stage. Different combos have to learn to play together. As the Silver Stars coach said, the Lynx are far ahead of where most other teams are at this early stage. While the Lynx expect to win every game, they know they won’t go 34-0 but they’ll figure out how to close games and be fine. So take heart Lynx fans as good as our team is ... they can still get better. If they stay healthy, they will. Go Lynx!
