Trevor Winter only played five minutes in the NBA, but the former Slayton, Minn., and Gophers center got to battle against 15-time All-Star Shaquille O'Neal.

WINTER COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS PLAYER. HIS CAREER WAS DERAILED WHEN THE GOPHER COACHES CHANGED HIS SHOOTING MECHANICS, LOWERING HIS BALL SET POSITION. THE SAME CAREER ENDING CHANGES WERE MADE TO MARK HALL, MELVIN NEWBURN, RICK RICKERT, SHANE SCHILLING AND JULIAN WELCH WHILE THEY PLAYED FOR THE GOPHERS.

Whatever hjlazni!! As a senior he was a back up center on an obviously well coached final four team. He always had trouble shooting. I met him a number of times when he played for the gophers ... first class guy who worked hard and was always practicing. I think he would be the first to tell you the NBA may have been faster then he was ... regardless of the "poor" coaching he received in college.
