The City of Golden Valley welcomes President Obama. Based on Honeywell's outreach to our returning troops, we are pleased he has chosen Honeywell to discuss employment opportunities for our military veterans. The President's proposal to Congress, including encouraging employment in public safety, definitely has merit. Over the years, Golden Valley’s outstanding police and fire departments have been fortified by returning veterans. Our country’s veterans – and their families – have served and sacrificed for the sake of our freedom. Transitioning from active duty to civilian life is undoubtedly a battle in itself. So it's only fitting for Congress, local businesses, and communities like ours to adopt efforts to provide these patriots and their families the opportunity to create happy, productive lives when they come home. Shep Harris - Golden Valley Mayor

For 3 1/2 years, this president has been ineffective with our economy. Only now, that he is facing re-election is he pandering for votes. Look at his record on the economy thus far when you make up your mind whether you think we need four more years of this president and his approaches to our economy.

Thank you, Mayor Harris! Too many people wave the flag, but do nothing else to help our veterans. Interesting point is the new program that provides "therapy dogs" for traumatized returning vets. It's proven that it works, yet I've seen and heard lots of griping from local people when my nephew goes out and about with his canine companion. From weird looks, because "he's not blind?" to out=right scathing comments made about "buck-up, kid, we've all suffered". People are cruel, and selfish, and these vets deserve our support!

Good thing for Vets if this isn't just another stage for Obama. Why isn't Obama going to Medtronic or St Judes Medical to explain why Obamacare will destroy jobs and increase medical costs with the medical device tax?

mom2four, I will take the President over Mitt Romney any day of the week. I believe he has shown solid leadership in many areas, and while we have much still to accomplish, we are on the correct path. It simply has not been possible to turn things around overnight from the worst recession since the depression. And I firmly support his efforts on behalf of returning vets, some of whom I have known and gone to school with.

mn2nice - he just wants votes. He who apologizes for everything this nation does overseas does not have the respect of the militiary. Remember as C-I-C he cannot be disobeyed or even disagreed with by anyone in the military. Yes he has pointed us in the right direction - more and more taxes and promises that big brother will take care of you. Sometimes I hope you people get what you ask for - of course you do have Dayton and Franken plus a ton of money for the Twinkies and Viqueens.

And after he visits Honeywell he is going to two fundraisers, which anyone willing to put up $40,000.00,can attend. I sure hope the taxpayers aren't paying for this campaign visit.
