Morneau "finding his groove" won't translate into many Twins victories this year. For the most part, the Twins pitching staff is horrendous!

Seems like umpires are missing more close calls this year than in years past for some reason. Could it be that because the commish says no replay changes are in order the umpires are not focusing emough to get into position to make the correct call? Just saying.

Is it just me or do our kids seem to pitch better when Butera is behind the plate?

Gardy...please, just stay in the dugout!

Funny how the ump looked like he was looking at the play but still missed the call. Since when does the tie go to the fielder? The Ump was staring right at the base too! LOL then he throws Carroll and Gardy out. Must be a Tiger fan is all I can think of, hopefully this gets looked at by the MLB. Umps should also be held accountable

The Ump missed the call (though it was a banger and pretty tough to make in real time) but the tie does not go to the runner. That's one of baseballs great myths (similar to hands are part of the bat, a ball hitting the plate being foul). Ask any umpire that does high school ball or higher or just look in the rulebook. As a pro ball player, Carrol should (and probably does) know that that's a myth. Still, if that's all he said there is no reason to toss him.

if it wasn't for the umpires the twins would have won the game? calls go both ways, but when you're bad it's a good way to divert attention from the real problems.

Watching this team is getting almost as bad as when my wife turns on "Glee.". In either case, I'm forced to helplessly weep.

msjohnson06 - check what the rule book says about the requirements for forcing a runner out at a base, then watch MLB double plays. Also, check out the rules for tagging a player out, then watch fielders miss tagging out sliding runners. How about the different strike zones for rookies versus veterans?
