What a great way to show off our Twin Cities. Hopefully we can have a great week for all these young people and their families to visit and enjoy all the great amenities, restaurants and hospitality our city has to offer!

To put it in perspective this event is equal in size and scope to the Schwan's USA CUP soccer tournament that's held at the National Sports Center EVERY year!

The taxes that pay for the group that landed the event all come from Minneapolis...but it looks like the suburbs are big beneficiaries...perhaps it is time the metro area started realizing how we are ONE metro area and that as such the metro area should pay for services together.

If it isn't beach volleyball, I'll pass.

Let's see. The convention center group gets ripped because people don't feel they earn their pay. Then they land a major event and people say "who cares?" Nice. This is a big deal and the convention center should feel good about landing the event. It will bring thousands of people downtown. And, yes, the entire metro area will benefit.

So this event will not be one of the so-called many moneymaking events that happen in a pro football stadium during the offseason? Shucks darn. As a matter of fact, teen idol Bieber isn't even going to use the dome. What does the dome do during the offseason to make millions for the city? Legislators and city council members seem to believe that the dome makes money.

$60 million economic influx. LOL. That's why they pay you the big money, Melvin.
