The planting of Muskies has to be part of the reason. Those things eat everything in sight. And they are large and plentiful. Cormorants too are taking a toll.

Cormorants are taking what they need to live. Muskies are not native to the lake and should be killed when caught or netted. The DNR needs a new agenda. We cannot continue to fund them through licenses that allow more idiots to kill more things like doves, wolves, and cranes! The wildlife in Minnesota belongs to everyone- a $30.00 license is not enough money to replace a wild animal.

I've been fishing the west end of Vermillion since I was born in the 1970' and have a cabin on the west end. The amount of conspiracies promoted by residents and resort owners on the lake boggles the mind. The walleye populations and trends have always been different on the two ends of the lake. One only needs to look at a map of the lake to start to understand why that might be. For us, the number of large walleyes is better than its been in a very long time and we are enjoying that. We only keep what we eat, which is not all that much.
