Absolutely disgusting. Gov Dayton should have vetoed this bill. Never has a delisted animal been hunted so fast. Time for prep and planning to STOP the murder of our timber wolves.

So the first thing MN does the instant wolves are taken off the endangered species list is to start hunting them? The article says trapping too? Really trapping? And this isn't for any stort of food, this is purely for entertainment. Hopefully one day humans will evolve to not feel the need to hunt for fun. Disgusting

Without arguing any other point, why on earth would there be a proposal to lessen the fine for an illegal hunt? That is absurd. The vast majority of people follow the rules and abhor people who don't. Who are the people lobbying for a lowered fine and why would anyone propose such a thing? If anything the fine should be increased and the same forfeiture rules should be enforced. Loss of hunting equipment and privileges and yes that includes your 4x4.

Sad thing is wolves have routinely been killed in Minnesota even when listed. Now all the "quick draw Mc Graws" can kill them year round with a rubber stamp from the state. The amount of knowledge about our ecosystem people do not know is deafening.

Sad and sickening. I just can't understand why anyone would want to kill somehthing just for the fun of it. Absolutely horrifying that anyone gets pleasure out of this.

Would you rather have moose present in MN or an over population of wolves?

ephraker, because wolves have a healthy population. Too healthy in fact. The reason the fine was raised is because they were endagered in this state. They no longer are endagered so the fine is lowered. Did you miss that. I think you should only be given a warning if you shoot one out of season. Maybe make a 3 strike system where you pay $50 after the 3rd wolf or something.

Both the Governor and the DNR have made a very bad error in judgement removing the wolves from the endangered list and allowing them to be hunted. DO people realize that wolves are sacred to Native Americans and to this land? I oppose the hunting and killing of wolves here in MN or anywhere else in the US. They have the right to survive and to live. There is a movement on Facebook to put a stop to all wolf hunts and those people will not stop until state officials and the DNR have put wolves back on the endangered animals list. This movement will continue to grow in numbers and I will continue to do whatever is neccessary to stop all wolf hunts.

That is to say, our state's professional basketball team may join a handful of others which are named after a bird or animal that is legally game in certain regions of its own home state.
