You Unions keep digging your own grave. Strike!
so these people aren't nurses?? UH yeah good luck with that strike. You all just lost your jobs.
Right on Jestman. There are many people wanting or needing jobs. Unions no longer help the employee, they just pad their own pockets.
Most of you just don't get it. It takes a village, and these workers are just as important as nurses. Give me a break.
Most of the union works represented here make $30k or less per year and already have high deductibles on their health insurance of $3-500 and the hospitals want to DOUBLE that. In addition they want to cut their vacation/sick time in half from approx 20 days per year to only 10. 10 days TOTAL of vacation and sick time. You'd accept that?
Anyone remember that nurses strike from a few years ago? "We care. For you." turned into give us a raise and lets all forget about safe staffing levels...they had me convinced it wasn't safe to go to the hospital. The "shame on you banner" should be in front of the nurses union headquarters-permanently.
I am a member of this union who voted not to strike. I love how the union misleads so many people. The hospitals have offered a very fair wage increase. They are NOT cutting vacation hours. A person who has worked for them for 5 years or less fulltime gets 10 days of vacation a year PLUS 8 hours of sick time a month. That equals 32 days of potential time off a year. A person who has worked there 17 years or more and works fulltime gets 25 vacation days PLUS the 12 days of sick time a year. The hospitals are only proposing to change how we receive our vacation time. On my anniversary date, I receive 120 hours into my vacation bank to use over the next year. The hospital wants to give it out essentially like PTO every two weeks. Sick time would still be a totally separate bank. They are proposing we pay more of our health insurance premium, but right now I only pay $40 a pay period, not $300-500 like some claim. Surely some who have large families may pay that much, but if you don't want to pay that much don't have so many kids!
You all are missing the point. The non-contract staff are getting a 2.5% raise.
I'd quit and burn my union card and then go back and get my job back representing myself. Your work should merit increases not a contract. Do a good job get an increase. That's how my PRIVATE company does it.

--- ??? While I agree, though they did not make me think it was unsafe, this is not a nurses strike.
