Hartman: Vikings glad to leave Metrodome behind

The Dome had its day, but the outdated facility didn't bring in the revenue streams earned by most NFL teams.

Ok, so the Vikings will have three seasons in front of them for 'outdoor conditioning', why not keep it that way? By the time they move into the new digs, they'll be battle ready for the elements. It will be a shame to throw that aspect away and not use it to their advantage as they did in the past.

Geez, Sid! Get Mark Wilf and his group to fess up about the real costs to current season ticket owners. The Dome was not that bad. At least we could afford to go to the games. Will we be able to do so in the future? Of particular concern in Minnesota is the Minnesota Vikings unwillingness to share any information on PSLs or Personal Seating Licenses with regards to the new stadium. I urge all season ticket holders to call the Vikings ticket office at 612.338.4537. I am willing to pay for a PSL without complaint but I am afraid I will be out-priced. During the legislative debate it was mentioned that $100,000,000.00 was the Vikings goal in PSL fundraising. How will that impact the current, loyal season ticket owners? The Vikings will not say! We helped get them the new stadium. The least that they can do is provide an indication of the potential costs for PSLs.

Gee, Drew Butera says its easier for a pitcher when he gets the first pitch over for a strike. Maybe he should tell the other catcher how that works.

"Hartman: Vikings glad to leave Metrodome behind." I, on the other hand, would be happy to see the Vikings left behind.

It's too early to determine PSLs and don't be mad when the price is higher as that is how it works for every new stadium.

If the Wilf's never threatened to leave, where did all of the LA garbage come from???? The media perhaps??????

tmack24May. 13, 1210:12 PM

If the Dome is outdated, then where is Lambeau Field?????

ActTwoMay. 13, 1211:00 PM

It's great that the new stadium is also going to be used for baseball, maybe we can get a major league team now!

Lambeau Field had a 300 million dollar renovation in 2000 and they are currently working on an expansion for the 2013 season. If the Metrodome wasn't slapped together so half-heartedly to begin with, we probably could have done continuous improvements and we would not be needing a billion dollar stadium. At least this time we are doing it right.

Sid -- you never gave up on the Twins or Vikings and their quest for new stadiums that were needed. You take a lot of heat from people because you are a strong supporter and advocate for all sports in Minnesota. There are a lot of cynics who don't like the positions you take. But you have always been consistent and there are many of us who know how much you have devoted your life to making this a better sports community. I hope and pray that you will be at the new stadium for the first game in 2016.
