Here's what I learned filming the campaign over same-sex marriage in Maine.
"Schubert's divert-and-doubt strategy was to claim that if gays and lesbians were allowed to marry, homosexuality then would be taught in public schools. It was a tactic that Schubert's own local campaign manager said was "overinflated."
So Joe, you want to have "conversations" with these people? These people who are determined to prevent you from enjoying the same civil rights as they do? These people who make up crazy lies like the above in order to prevent you from marrying?
Well OK then. Good luck with that.
I am grateful you made this film. We look forward to seeing it on Monday night. May it help Minnesota as we go through this campaign.
