Another lackluster loss led to moves: Danny Valencia was sent down and Francisco Liriano was sent to the bullpen.

Terry Ryan needs to fix this pitching mess now. To think he went into this season thinking this pitching staff was adequate is crazy. Not one of these guys has had an above average season with the Twins in the last three years. They all came into the season with questions. I think we have the answers. I won't even waste my time writing about our $20 million dollar/year catcher.....he's a thief.

After another thrilling night at Target Field, I'm left with these four thoughts: 1.) I'm starting to think that Joe Mauer might be UNDERPAID; the way he carries this team night after, one come from behind victory after another...well, it's enough to send chills up and down a grown man's spine. 2.) As Carl Pavano's ERA peeks just over the 5.00 mark once again, it's not hard to see why the Twins had him pegged as the staff ace...rather than the number four or five starter a team like the Rays, Giants, Dodgers, or Angels might see him as. 3.) After the demotion of Valencia tonight (as opposed to the release of about five other guys on this roster), it's obvious that this trainwreck of a season is all Danny's fault. All of it. Just ask Gardy...or Andy...or that guy pretending to be a hitting coach. What's his name? And 4.) At one point does Terry Ryan actually admit to us--and perhaps to HIMSELF--that spending $500,000 a piece on twelve different guys you dig out from the dumpster and subsequently release before June 1st is NOT more productive than bringing in one somewhat talented player for, say, $5M or $6M a year??? Hmm.

the stuff of Frankie? what stuff? and what Frankie? Viola? you surely can't be talking about Liriano...he doesn't have any "stuff"...Pavano sure battled tonight...get a clue Gardy!

Can't hit, can't pitch. On pace to lose 105 games. Bring in the young guys and see if one or two of them step up. I would waste my breath of the catcher.

So Terry Ryan is making moves like a madman to try and salvage this season, but he is forgetting one: designating HIMSELF for assignment!

I give a lot of credit to what Mauer has done in the past, NONE OF US CAN DENY THAT. I do not even think it is the contract that has done him in, face it, he does not have any leadership skills and is an average game caller at that. Given these facts, the Twins need to either trade him for some value or have a private conversation with him about re-structuring his contract. This native Minnesota son does not have what it takes to lead a team, I think we all can appreciate that. His contract wa based on what we thought he would do, Joe has to man up if he wants to help this club. Change your approach to the game Joe or change teams....

The only suspense left for this season will be if the Twins can muster up 43 wins...to avoid losing 120 games.

twinrip12: You are, Monsieur, absolutely, categorically, unadulteratedly, 100-percent accurate. Mauer is one of the real bonafide troubles on this team. He's emotionless, diffident and simply not producing. He should seriously consider prorating his salary to help this team right its ugly course. Wow! how they've slipped in, what, 14 months?
