'Make heads roll'? Jim Pohlad says no

  • Article by: JOE CHRISTENSEN , Star Tribune

Twins CEO Jim Pohlad made a rare on-field appearance during batting practice before Monday's game against the Angels and had a brief conversation with manager Ron Gardenhire.

Wow, the decisions whether or not to fire Ryan, Gardy, Vavra, Anderson belong to Gardy and Ryan. I guess we know whether or not Gardy and the gang will be back next year even if the Twins lose 120 games. Jim Pohlad is clueless and St. Peter is merely a figurehead. The inmates are truly running the asylum known as the Minnesota Twins.

Really the decisions are up to fire people are up to the GM and Manager? That right there shows just one of the huge problems with this team. It is not the managers decision on whether or not he or other people get fired you can make a case for the GM being one of the bigger decision makers when it comes to the team but when a team is this bad the owner has to lay down the law.

Also what I think is one of the biggest if not the biggest problem with the Twins is there like an older person that thinks the technology of the 80s and 90s is still the best technology and refuses to change to present day technology except in this case its with baseball.

I can't imagine that the Pohlad's are nearly as tolerant of poor management, mediocre results and poor customer service in their other operating entities as they are in this one. I have never observed such a "ho-hum" management philosophy.

Here's a clue for you Jim. You have chaos already. It's happened already. There it is in front of you. DEAL WITH IT.

When will it no longer be knee-jerk? I mean if being pitiful over the last 200 games is still knee-jerk, I think we need to re-evaluate the phrase. This is more like not-deceased-jerk.

"The Twins are known for their stability." Apparently that's a good thing? I guess the musicians on the Titanic were known for their stability, too. Kept right on playing...

"You keep using that word, 'knee jerk.' I do not think it means what you think it means."

What a depressing article. I don't expect Pohlad to be firing people through the newspaper. But this nonsense about stability is crazy talk. And that Dozier is the top (and only) prospect! If you keep doing what you're doing, you keep getting what you're getting.
