This is a farse and to far along to stop. Why is there no check of float planes... or plains that could possible drop contamination in the waters? Why spend all of this money if there is no real fine. Asian Carp are a larger problem.

Private boat inspectors that would charge you for an inspection!!! You gotta be kidding me. We don't need high school dropouts running the DNR. Get an education.

Strange that the DNR is inspecting boats that are going into already infested lakes. Maybe they should check them when they come out and also inspect boats going into non-infested waters. Kinda bass-ackwards.

Watching our bait and bilge is a prudent action, however as stated by some only slows/delays the spread of invasive species. This type of action can only be applied in small areas/local spots. We need a solution that affects the entire area/system. We are supposed to minimize the impact of invsive species. They recently found an 86% reduction in some parts of the Mississippi, of zebra mussels due to predation by native fish. Maintaining high predator levels is the key. Perch are predators of zebra mussels and will also eat, juvenile asian carp.More Resistant to invasive species, the experts say. Restore native fish, doesn't affect checking the bilge, can only help. The less zebras we got, the less chance of moving them, by any means.

23 decontamination units, 80 inspectors. 14,000 lakes, perhaps 30,000 (?) public and private landings. 800,000 boats, 1 million people on the water opening day. Up to 1/2 hour to decontaminate a boat. Good luck with that as the numbers do not work.

good idea to decontaminate a boat thats been in a garage, storage area or a back yard for 6mos. you need to decontaminate the boats coming out of the infested lakes so its not passed on, but our DNR likes to flock shoot and everyone is guilty and has a dirty boat, backassward thinking

Has there been a bigger waste of DNR resources than these ridiculous wash stations ? Who in their right mind thinks these will accomplish anything ? I agree with Don9539, good luck Friday night and Saturday when the remaps are backed up by hundreds of boats.
