The front pads and rotors were replaced about a month ago, but the amount of dust does not seem to be decreasing with use.

Re excessive brake dust. Make sure that who ever is doing your brake work is using the proper pads, that they are indeed of the proper specs they are supposed to be. In my case I had my pads replaced at the local Audi dealership, figuring they knew what they were doing and would use factory spec and original pads. It turns out they used inferior pads which did a couple of things 1) they only lasted about 12,000 miles or so, a good 6 - 8 thousand less than they should, and 2) THEY THREW OFF EXCESSIVE BRAKEDUST! This was more than an annoyance, this dust is caustic and ruined the aluminum rims on my Audi. Pads are made with a couple of different types of materials and very greatly in quality. My rims are now pitted and look rusty. The service managers at this Audi dealership (I live in Minneapolis) didn't explain the difference in the types of pads that could be used and what that meant. If they had I would certainly opted for better quality parts. DON'T assume the dealership is giving you proper parts, often they are using things that they got some sort of special financial arrangement to push and these parts can often be substandard. These rims cost around $300 a piece and now they are ruined thanks to the poor quality service at this particular Audi dealership.
