Another aspect which runners might like to know is that a separate trail/pavement is provided for bikers. There is ample space and scenery all along the running trails (51+ and growing) in Minneapolis, and the trails are plowed in the Winter, so as to be usable year-round.

To the author, Eric: This was an enjoyable essay and brings a fresh perspective. It might interest you to know that many of the early settlers in Minneapolis were from Massachusetts. Minneapolis, like cities such as Laurel, has its roots as a mill town. Fortunately, business diversified over time. This may be in part because of the Park System, which makes Minneapolis (and St. Paul) such a great place to live, and grow roots.
