A respectful crowd came out Tuesday night for the last game at the old ballpark before work on the new one begins.

Nice to see Tubby there supporting the baseball program. Really cool to see. That shows some real class when they go to another sporting event beside their own.

First of all AD Maturi stalled the whole effert for a new "Siebert Field" for the sake of football. Now his "legacy" is to build a new field with no lights. The new AD can't come to the U of M soon enough to fix this mess!

Siebert has a great legacy from college to high school games. That being said it's a shame the U left it fall down. Every spring for a number of years now the State baseball tourney held games there. What a great recruiting tool it "Could've" been, having high school kids playing there. I'm just glad to see that those, who could give money did and now let's get the lights up.

Tubby wouldn't walk 100 feet to Siebert if he had already signed his lousy extention. He is just putting up a front like always to the new Prez and new A.D. Trust me!

I am glad that they got their stadium. It is to bad that it is not a domed stadium (the Twins could play there when it snows/rains - laugh). I hope that someone comes up with the money for the lights.

I agree it IS great when coaches and athletes from one sport attend the games of the others. I've been to Gopher football games where the basketball players are are often there and Tubby too. One game he was simply standing and shaking fans' hands as they came down the stairs. I'm not surprised to see him in the stands for this one. On another note, I had forgotten (or didn't appreciate) that Dick Siebert was only 66 years old when he died. Warmath, Mariucci, Siebert and John Kundla were quite a group for the U in the 1960s. Their teams always played hard and competed well.
