Although we won't know who did best in the draft for years to come, the selections did offer plenty to debate.

Every season the same thing happens; half of the "Studs" drafted become backups, and are labeled as failures. A bunch of 6/7th rounders, and no name post draft FA, due to some injury, step in and make a name for themselves. The players coming out of college, even in the SEC, don't have to play against superior talent every week. Some let the money get to them and fall apart. The draft is to fill your teams' needs. I think the Vikes did a good job, picking the players. Only time will tell. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good article. What's interesting to me is how some fans get so bent out of shape, as if the fate of the free world depended on each and every draft pick. Some commentators on these message boards seem to think that every pick must be a future hall of famer or Speilman and the entire coaching and scouting staff needs to be fired and Zigi needs to sell the team. Geez, it's just a game.

Kiper's grade for the Vikings (B) is too low. I give the Vikings an A. The object of the draft is to add talent and to fill needs. I felt the Vikings did a good job at doing both. We got thre best offensive lineman in the draft and solidified our offensive line. The Vikings should be better next season.

2005 Vikings were graded an "A" for their picks, shortly after the draft. 6 years later-the NFL reviewed the draft again and gave us an "F". It was considered the Vikings worse draft ever. These grades right after the draft are meaningless.

The Vikings added talent to positions that needed talent upgrades. I'm happy with this draft but the most interesting part of this draft to me is that Spielman and company decided to go the college teammate/friend route when making the picks in the 4th and 5th rounds. Six of these ten draft picks could go from being in the same huddle in college to being in the same huddle in the pros. It looks as if Spielman was not only looking for talent upgrades but he put an emphasis on addressing team chemistry by drafting college teammates that are also friends. I've never seen a draft pointed in that direction before but there isn't any reason it won't work well because those 6 college teammates are also very good pro prospects.

Tabernoosh-is anyone from the Vikings 2005 draft still in the league? Enought said. For this year's draft, I wish the Vikings would of addressed their HUGE need at the WR position. And drafting two WR's from Arkansas in the 4th round, does NOT address our WR need in my opinion. Neither of these guys will become a starter.

If anything, this draft shored up some positions and forced guys to thier proper spots on the depth chart. It gets guys like Jamarca Sanford back to a special teams role. It gets gus like Burton and Sherels on the very fringe of the roster. Good chance it pushes Jenkins down to #4 WR where he belongs, and pushes Aromashdu and the other clowns to the fringes of the roster. And the trickle down effect of drafting Kalil really could solidify the whole offensive line. (Johnson to G and defacto "Mr. Versitile" is a much better situation)
