Beyond core, Kahn mum on who will remain

David Kahn said he wants Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio to retire here. Next season's lineup beyond those two is anyone's guess.

At first I thought Kahn was a NBA freakshow/trainwreck, but after hiring Rick Adelman the Wolves have a future. This season had some great moments and I (a casual Wolves fan) look forward to next year.

Compare Khan to the past and he's done just fine, and I think has learned a little more each year. He's right, Love, was not Love until he committed to the game at that ultimate level this off season. If just a guy or two more takes that same kind of step (and we have young guys who can still make that last big leap with their game) this team will certainly compete for a playoff spot or more. It could be even be Beasley for pete's sake, but he'll have to willing to sign here with an incentive type deal for us to find out it is him. Pec seemed solid, like Love when he first started, so he's a canidate too. We all know who it should be, but we'll see.

Kahn is obviously a very unlikeable man. That said, I'd rather have him in here at this point than anyone else, as he has something to prove not only to the NBA world (JZ included), but the coach of the team. Should be an interesting summer. Lets hope he takes Adelman's advice on the players he needs to succeed, & most importantly sends the manna back to heaven. Darko is a poor man's Stojko Vrankovic, and I mean that as insulting as possible.

so, the consensus of 3 posters here is Khans the man to change this? he is saying he wants Love and Rubio here for the duration but the signed them to conracts that give them unrestricted free agency in a few short years. While franchises like Oklahoma signed their top two to 10 and 8 yr deals he signs his top two short term contracts with out clauses. That is a joke.. also he "wishes he had our pick" why.. hes had at least 7 #1s already, other than Rubio which a first grader woulda picked, hows he done with the rest?? Souhan was right in his last article about Khan.. other than spending millions on free agents.. hes out of ammunition to make any decent trades.. who wants the Beasleys, Johnsons, and Darkos??

Another part of the operation to look at -- do we have the right sports medicine and training folks in place? Seems like, year in, year out, the Wolves suffer from a lot of injuries. I know that this is part of the game and that the lockout-shortened training camp and season wreaked havoc on players' bodies. (I know Coach Adelman has been careful to avoid over-taxing players.) But is the organization doing all it can to prevent and effectively rehab injuries? Just asking...

At least we can feel like there is s plan. With McFail, I still crack up anytime I hear him on TV giving his "opinion" on basketball, you knew he was making a big mess. His only good draft picks were his 1st and last. Sure, he could play. My sister could have played with Bird and Parrish! He can coach a lick too but, has no eye for talent.
