Good pick, good day.

Good first round but I think they could have gotten Smith for nos. 35 and 118 and maybe a 6th rounder. Now what are they going to do after no 66? They don't have another pick until 118. That's 52 spots.

Fanfor38- I highly doubt they would be able to keep all 13 of the guys so I have no problem with trading back up. Once the Vikes grabbed Smith, a few teams traded. It appeared others were lined up to grab him. They still have three 4th round picks. Why not trade up to grab guys you've identified if you have the means? In essence, you then are passing on them if you have the picks and don’t go after the best guys (as you have ranked).

That's more than likely why they are stockpiling draft picks. So far Speilman & company are doing a great job drafting; at least on paper. I hope Kalil, Smith and whomever else they draft turn out to be quality NFL players on the field as well.

Bravo, Mr. Spielman. Regardless how the players turn out, he managed our best 1st rd draft in years -- when we need it most. Now, it's up to the players.

I'm not a troll - I'm a Vikings fan, and I am at best skeptical about this pick. He had zero INT last year and all his picks in the year before were wounded ducks - watch his youtubes high lights. Every single scouting report on this kid says he is a converted linebacker who is a great tackler and great against the run but lacks cover instincts and skills. I was hoping all week long we wouldn't draft this kid. I doubt seriously Spielman on this and more so his claim that this kid is a playmaker. I hope he is right but I have serious doubts. There were better players on the board, I hate this pick.

Nice first round Mr. Spielman. I have been very unkind on here, and you have proven me wrong. Thanks.

Time will tell-both first rounders could be huge busts. Smith had zero interceptions his senior year-big red flag.

Smith may not have had any interceptions last year, but he did have 10 passes defensed. I'm also glad we moved up to grab as I think he would have been gone at #35, and the dropoff in talent at that position after Smith is huge.

Another reach pick by Spielman. Smith is overrated and the Vikings will still have a terrible secondary.
