This smells of late '90s repeat, minus the Dome

This is the same vibe that gripped the Twins from 1993 through 2000.

Name one MN team that will make the playoffs in the next 3 years. Timberwolves? Maybe, but only if they stay healthy.

Come on Pat! Its not like fans couldn't see this start happening with the off-season the Twins had. No pitching brought in and no power beside willingham & Morneau. The Twins have poor owners. why are they getting a free pass for just collecting money and not fielding a competitive team, they sign 2 big contracts and think they have done their job.I disagree. Pohlads sell the team!

Right again Pat. It should be noted Terry Ryan somehow resided over all these changes. Bad to good and back to bad again.

After the bubble burst from last year's mid-June winning streak, it became apparent to me that the Twins had returned to the 90s. I think a lot of posters on these pages saw the same thing. Ryan is going to need to rebuild from the bottom. So we will see the likes of the players Reusse mentioned roaming the outfield for the Twins the next few years. Hopefully Ryan will start trading any current "aging" Twins if they return to form (read, Span, Morneau, Casilla, Valencia and even Mauer). That would help stock the minor leagues for a run in 2014 or 2015.

nightrite...you forgot about the Lynx. I know...not one of the "Big 4." But, it's Minnesota's only champion in that last two decades....and the state's only hope for more success in the upcoming season. Hopefully, they won't fall into the "Minnesota Mudhole!" :-)

One thing is official: Trevor Plouffe can't play anywhere in the field.

When you have 2 average players, the M&M boys, taking up 40+% of the team payroll, there you go. Until they get rid of these crazy contracts, this team will go nowhere.

New stadium and they still don't try to do anything. They do the same things over and over again. That's insanity right? Swept by an injured Boston club, who you can see are still in turmoil, while at home in that spiffy new ball park that was supposed to make them competative for years to come. I guess they meant months, or at least I think it was weeks.

Looks like I will have more free time this summer, don't need to watch this garbage every night. I might be in a better mood if there was an actual plan for success, but Pat's right, its the same blueprint as the 90's. 1. Refuse to get starting pitching 2. Band-aid with old nobodies (doumit, burroughs) 3. Stagnate payroll How about we give the Viking's Target Field and make the twins move back to the Dome, at least Zygi will spend money on his team.
