Another self-righteous "activist" strikes again .... and in so doing, harms his own cause. Lather-rinse-repeat.

Who cares? This piece of junk art should go away. It is a blight to a rich neighborhood. Ishy!

I guess "'Spoonbridge' is collateral damage in an African war" is one way to say it. Another way to say it is artwork is defaced with graffiti by spoiled brats.

Calling it 'collateral damage' makes it OK, right?

"collateral damage" is a military euphemism for when one of their bombs takes out a few dozen men, women and children. it's a poor choice of words for what it is intended to describe, and it's an awful betrayal of one's views towards people dying in african wars when used to described graffiti on a sculpture in a rich american city. shameful.

I thought graffiti was art? Check out the Walker's own website and "Artist in Residence" Barry McGee's "work". Apparently not when it is on your prize possession. Try to keep the "graffiti art" to the prize possessions of small business owners, public property, and private residences.

I live in near Northeast Mpls and am disgusted by the sudden appearance of spray-painted graffiti all over bridges and buildings in this charming area of the city. Those doing this have certainly disgusted me with this behavior. There are other ways of getting a message across without resorting to destructive activities which only serve to turn people off to your cause and turn a deaf ear to you.

martime0. graffiti CAN BE art, but writing a few crappy-looking letters on a sculpture does not make you an artist. this is the difference. I don't mind seing well-done graffiti art pieces but this was by no means one of them.

I don't like graffiti. And that spoon bridge should move on out to the desert with car-henge.

Defacing anything is the name of a protest is just childish. You do not have any right to deface or destroy anyone else's property private or public.
