Liriano's psyche to be given a rest

Sadly, Liriano needs a sports therapist to get his mind fixed. We all know that he is not the sharpest knife in the set. Now we need to get him to understand how to be mentally tough and focused, like Pavano and other veterans can do. Otherwise, he is going to end up on the scrap heap, which would be a shame, given his physical skills. Too bad his mental makeup is not as good. I like Liriano but he is just not mentally ready to be in the big leagues. I don't know what it will take with him.

A mental break 3 weeks into the season? That's ridiculous! Send him to AAA and call up someone who's brain isn't spaghetti. I wonder what my boss would say if I was severely under performing at a high pay scale, and I asked him for a "mental break"?

If Liriano was pitching for the Cardinals, he would win 17-18 games. With Anderson, like so, so many other pitchers, he's a "head case."

Ryan says Gardo and Andy need to work their magic...Ryan needs to get a one-way ticket out of la la land. Come'on ...you can't make this crap up anymore with the Twins. Show one example of any player on this team that has taken their game to the next level because of either Gardo or Andy's guidance. Almost too a man...players have regressed under these two carnival barkers. Nothing will change with this team until the chemistry changes with the coaching staff. It's not the players.

It's not the players.----coaches don't hit the ball or make the plays. You must be a soccer player.

@privateeye "coaches don't hit the ball or make the plays." But it is on the coaches to work with the player to develop their individual talents and not get them to do something they are not. The Twins coaching staff tries to teach everyone to be an exact clone. Players don't come to this organazation and get better with the current coaching staff. It has, however, been seen time and time again that players get better when they leave and get with coaches that work to their strengths. You must not follow the Twins or ever listen to/read about any player that leaves.

@igowrules - for every player you can name that has done well after leaving I can name 2 that didn't. End that silly argument.

"We're going to do what's right for him, and that's not coming out of the bullpen and getting in trouble out there -- and, if you happen to do that, making it worse. How 'bout doing what's right for the team for a change?

Liriano should be demoted where he can just work on throwing the ball without all the self imposed distractions he seems to endlessly labor upon up here with the Twins. At this most recent disappointing point in his career, maybe he can calm himself long enough to find a way to climb back to respectability. At least he won't be be causing premature burnout of the Twins bull pen every time his turn comes up in the rotation.
