All the prep work boils down to that basic question when the Vikings make their picks.

Andrew Luck is supposed to be a can't miss player, Robert Griffen III is almost bound to be a bust because of what Washington game up to move a few spots up for him. The Most intriguing player might be Running back Trent Richardson who might be the best running back since Adrian Peterson, except for he is a natural slash runner with Barry Sander like cut back abilities... Don't be surprised if 5 years down the road Trent Richardson ends up being the best player in the draft.

The Vikes need to take Clayborne and pick up an OL in round 2, Clayborne is Deon Sanders that can tackle.

So, Ponder was our guy all along in the 2011 draft??? He was the guy we targeted even BEFORE Tennessee jump on Locker? Genius...they had me fooled until I just read this article. I'm sure glad they graded Dalton the way they did, otherwise we might have had a Rookie Probowl QB. We are gonna ROCK this draft!!!

As Studwell said, "There is value to be found in every round." REALLY?? Then why the heck don't we find it...CONSISTENTLY??? Ohhh wait, I know. Because we don't grade talent very well unless it's a can't miss prospect. And, BTW, the only reason Detroit passed on Harvin is because the fans will burn down the stadium if they take another receiver in the first round within the next 5 years.

Name 1 NFL Team, that goes into the draft virtually without ANY QB on their roster come next fall. THEN.....with a 12th overall pick, will select a QB on the board no matter who is still available! MN Vikings....thats who.

Did any of you guys even read the article, or did you just copy and paste your prior complaints? Vikings only hit on a "can't miss" prospect? Like Sullivan, in the 6th round? That was in the article. And you guys can tell from just one year that Locker is a better pick than Ponder? Of course, even if Locker and/or Gabbert are better or worse than Ponder it doesn't matter, since they were both taken before our draft pick.

@siouxchamp......... Just out of curiosity, who did you want the Vikings to select with the #12 pick in 2011? And, who would be YOUR starting QB if you ran the Vikings today? Complaints are fun, but I'm more interested in hearing how you would assemble a team.

Ponder will be more than fine. Rookie curve plus running for his life was a bad combo. The dude threw his first pass v GB for what should have been a TD. First rd picks have been nice as of late: Greenway, Harvin, Peterson are homeruns, Kalil will be, Ponder will be. We need to be concerned with our 2-5 picks -- get DB or WR starters. Having Cook back (2nd rd) will be good for us.

It would be better for the Vikings braintrust to approach this draft as if their jobs are on the line, instead of excitement at having so many picks. It's their fault we're coming off the worst record in Vikings history. Actually, perhaps they should be giddy at still having jobs.
