I was on the road that fateful Saturday afternoon in December, away from the comforts of my living room TV and eating lunch at the Texas Roadhouse in Billings, Montana. Billings is Denver Broncos country, so a Vikings-Redskins telecast was out of the question. The restaurant TV was tuned to ESPN, so I could only groan to my tablemates in utter horror as I agonizingly monitored the updated score from FedEx Stadium as it slowly crawled across the bottom of the screen every couple of minutes. "Good god," I thought, "these idiots are actually gonna win this freaking meaningless football game!" When the smoke finally cleared and the game went final (and I had choked down the last morsel of my 8-ounce sirloin) all I could manage through hot tears of anger and disbelief was to repeat to myself over and over, "You morons are at the end of the absolute WORST, most MEANINGLESS season in your WHOLE stupid history and you can't even LOSE THE STUPID FREAKING GAME WHEN IT'S IN YOUR BEST FREAKING INTEREST TO DO SO!!!"

Not as much difference between the 2nd and 3rd pick as everyone is saying. That's not gonna make this team a winner. A lot more work is needed than that and that one game is not going to make that much of a difference. Making way too much of this folks.

As much as I wish we had the #2 or #1 pick, beating the Redskins was the right thing to do. There are no guarantees, the best player in this draft could be anywhere from #1 to #7... Only time will tell...

Although that win was meaningless the Vikes do have a card to play...Trent Richardson. If anyone wants him they have to trade in front of the Browns. St.Louis is in love with him, and so are many other teams. The Vikes could at least get St.Louis 2nd this year for moving back 3 spots and maybe still getting Kalil at 6...The Browns don't need a LT and the Bucs are in on Claiborne. I too am on the RG3 bandwagon, but if you watch any "top bust" shows about the NFL draft, most busts were considered can't miss. When watching Ponder there is some similarities to Joe Montana, as well as the same knock on both coming out of college, too slender, no arm strength, fragile, etc, but there are also some similarities to Rick Mirer too with Ponder, so who knows with the guy. We'll see what happens. But the Vikes do still have an ability to trade back and get some extra picks and Richardson is that card.

They might as well go with the safe pick, that way that can't screw that up. Ponder will be our starter so we might as well get behind him and support him. He needs to get his confidence up. Webb may be more athletic, but he sure in the heck is no NFL starting quarterback. I believe it is the tarvaris jackson syndrome.

slick5090 wrong, do you read your own stuff, you said "the only reason that Webb looked better was because of his sheer athleticism" yes he did he looked better then Ponder he out played Ponder and Ponder got hurt and got hurt again and will keep getting hurt just like TJack and start showing he is gunshy, you paid for Webb he has showed what he can do USE HIM

Hmmmmm, so the writer thinks even when we win we lose. If we had lost we would have won, etc, etc. and if a frog had wings....winning was the right thing to do. We could probably still trade the 3rd pick if needed but I vote we draft OT from USC....If only we had lost, If Favre hadn't thrown cross body, if Mclanahan hadn't fumbled at the goal line, if Anderson had made the kick. Those things didn't happen so suck it up.

What a waste of time even thinking that way. Deal with reality.

I will jump into the debate. Webb did look better than Ponder but it was Ponder's first season. Lets see what he looks like this year before casting him off. I think he has the tools to pull it out and be a good QB. He will probably only be 3rd best qb in division at top form though since our division is stacked at qb talent.

When do you ever play a game to lose? If you play to lose you are a loser. Their job is to win games and let everything else take care of itself.
