Ask the patriots what the value of a stud Left tackle like Kalil, maybe 2 more superbowls if they could have slowed down the giants pass rush. It isn't joe Thomas' fault they haven't done well, that example is ridiculous. Left tackle is really important and Kalil could be a piece of the puzzle, but it won't be his fault if the rest of the puzzle isn't put together.

The Vikings history in drafting impact players is below average,at best. Granted,we can look at Peterson & Harvin as impact players. Over the last 30 years,they rank at the bottom in drafting players who have contributed greatly ! Remember the Walker debacle,Remember the Walker debacle ! Just take Kalil already !

No, it isn't a tough call. You draft Kalil at #3. Period.

Drafting Kalil is only a tough call for one person. Unfortunately for Vikings fans, it's the guy that makes the decision.

I remember a left tackle being picked number one overall not so long ago. The team went 9-23 his first two years. Then a QB got a chance when the presumed starter went down. The new QB gave a lot of credit to the left tackle, as did their all-pro RB. Of course, I'm talking about Orlando Pace, his QB Kurt Warner and RB Marshall Faulk. Take Kalil.

Kalil is the obvious choice. The examples used in this article with Willie Roaf and Joe Thomas have one thing in common. They were blocking for below average QBs and Kalil is walking into a similar situation. A below average QB situation. If Ponder doesn't take a significant step forward this season it won't be because he didn't get help from his blind side if Kalil is the pick. Ponder was a big mistake going at #12 last year when he received a 2nd round grade. Please don't make the same mistake this year.

Looking at the history of other teams just isn't that great of an indicator of wether to draft a left tackle or not. I would go a lot more on the best player available, what the team needs, whats available in the draft, and what your positions are to get the desired players. If you add all that up then at this time with no trades for the Vikes taking place you run up to the podium yelling at the top of your lungs that you want Kalil at #3.

Take Claiborne !! We want some defense !! We are not going to outscore the Lions, Packers or Bears unless we can STOP their offensive machines !! How many more possessions will our offense have, how many turnovers can a good secondary create and how much will our pass rush improve when the QB can't find an open receiver ???

Um, Bryant McKinnie was a top 10 pick in 2002 and also played in a conference championship game. Sure glad that Wiederer is a Hall of Fame elector. We're in such good hands.
